We can get working on creating more openings if we follow Mesa County's model. Mesa County Partnership for Children and Families. I want Longmont to leverage our Economic Development Partnership and the Boulder County Health Department to train people to open more in home day cares.

Mesa County has a central place to find licensed child care providers in one place. They also provide information of any safety violations.

This is a BIG challenge. The first step I would take would be a property tax reduction on child care centers. For in home day care it would be a homestead exemption on the house.
